Each year, Children’s Heart Foundation awards a $3,000 $mart Heart $cholarship to two graduating high school seniors managing congenital heart disease. We are excited to announce our 2017 winners!

Matthew Page

Matthew Page was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries and had open heart surgery when he was just 2 days old. He has never allowed this rough start to keep him from excelling. Matthew recently graduated from Northwest Career and Technical Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was involved in the Engineering and Design program at Northwest and has participated in many programs involving Engineering, including Skills USA this past year. He has had the pleasure of volunteering at his local church, Calvary Chapel Lone Mountain, for the past few years and hopes to continue to help people in the future. He will be attending University of Nevada Reno in the Fall, and will be majoring in Computer Science and Engineering with a minor in Mathematics.

Santosha Veeramachaneni

Santosha Veeramachaneni graduated from Clark High School in Las Vegas with a diploma in the Advanced Math, Science, and Technology Academy. She will be attending Virginia Commonwealth University as part of the Guaranteed Medical Program. After gaining an understanding of medicine through her experience with a heart condition, Santosha became interested in pursuing the field herself. She aspires to one day work with Doctors Without Borders and hopes she will be able to give back to her community and communities around the world. Santosha also enjoys painting and singing in her free time.
