Charity program raises more than $13,000 for Children's Heart Foundation in 2009

Children's Heart Foundation Receives $5,000 Grant from Speedway Children’s Charities
LAS VEGAS – December 10, 2009 - The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities hosted its annual Grant Distribution and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony recently at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Children's Heart Foundation received $5,000.
The designated grant supports Children’s Heart Foundation’s Camp Mend-a-Heart 2010.
Making a difference in a child's life is the focus of Speedway Children's Charities. SCC strives to do this in collaboration with the non-profit organizations it supports nationwide. Individually, SCC's local chapters identify the needs of children in their communities and award grants to organizations that address them.

The funds will be used for Family Outreach, a program which among its services helps in a new diagnosis or crisis situation by helping families pay for food, travel expenses and medical costs such as prescriptions.
The Community Partnership Grant program brings together contributions from Foundation fund holders as well as donors outside the Foundation. Event raises $18,000
Las Vegas - The Darin Lifetime Group has committed to supporting Children’s Heart Foundation with it’s annual event honoring Bobby Darin. On Sunday, May 17 fans gathered at the Southpoint Hotel Casino Spa for a musical tribute from original Darin musician, Bill McCubbin - “Billy Mac” and T.K. Kellman. The Fat City Horns, the brass section of Las Vegas band, Santa Fe performed along with Dennis Tufano, the original “voice” of the Buckinghams, Gene Sironen of Legends in concert and Chicago singing sensation, Dakota. Bobby Darin suffered over his lifetime with an eventually fatal heart condition. Because of the damage rheumatic fever did to his heart as a child, the Darin Lifetime Group has committed to raising donations for children of Nevada suffering from heart conditions. The event raised approximately $18,000.
The 2nd Annual Vintner Grill Wine, Jazz and Wisconsin Artisan Cheese Tasting raises $15,000

LAS VEGAS – The 2nd Annual Vintner Grill Wine, Jazz and Wisconsin Artisan Cheese Tasting hosted by Michael & Joele Corrigan and Jeanne & John Kilduff raised approximately $15,000 for Children’s Heart Foundation. Smiling Guests enjoyed appetizers prepared by Executive Chef Matthew Silverman and a display of vehicles from Gaudin Aston Martin.

LAS VEGAS — The NDOT Dick Morris Memorial Golf Tournament raised approximately $7,600 for the Nevada based, Children's Heart Foundation during its 31st annual tournament.
This year, Mark Rypien-Super Bowl XXVI MVP (pictured with heart kid James Spencer) hosted the event with “Those Golf Guys” Dave Hughes and JP Pinnochio. The May 17th tournament took place at the Dayton Valley Golf Course.

Bobby Darin suffered with a lifetime and eventually fatal heart condition. In his memory, his family has been committed to the advancement of a treatment to alleviate this serious disease.

Eighth Annual Family and Friends Charity Golf Tournament
Raises more than $4,000 for Children's Heart Foundation

LAS VEGAS — TOn Sunday July 13, Children's Heart Foundation's Heart Kid Ashley Schlipp hosted the Eighth Annual Family and Friends Charity Golf Tournament raising $4,340 to benefit the Children's Heart Foundation, a Nevada-based non-profit that lends support to children and families who suffer or are affected by heart problems.
The annual event, which was held this year at the Siena Golf Club in Las Vegas, raised funds that will provide continued support for children and families challenged with facing heart disease. Schlipp, who was born with critical aortic stenosis in 1989, is one of the children the foundation has helped in the past. After an unsuccessful attempt to fix her heart at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center, she underwent a successful procedure at Boston Children's Hospital. Schlipp then returned to Las Vegas and later became involved with Children's Heart Foundation.

The Darin Lifetime Group Begins a Series of Donations with the Presentation of $1,000 to Children's Heart Foundation

LAS VEGAS — Bobby Darin's memorial organization, The Darin Lifetime Group recently began a series of donations to Children's Heart Foundation, a Nevada-based non-profit that lends support to families as they deal with the emotional and financial toll exacted by a child's heart problems.
President of the Darin Lifetime Group, Vicki Shonerd, presented the $1,000 donation. The funds were raised in May 2007, when members of the Darin Lifetime Group visited Las Vegas for its national meeting to host commemorative events of Bobby Darin's life and career. Also attending the check presentation were two of Bobby Darin's prominent musicians Bill Aikins, a pianist/conductor and Tommy Amato, drummer/gutarist, as well as pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Robert Rollins of Children's Heart Center and Las Vegans, Toni Mullinix and Evelyn Cannestra.
In addition, The Darin Lifetime Group presented Children's Heart Foundation with an encouraging message from Dodd Darin, son of Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee. 29th Annual Dick Morris Golf Tournament raises $9,441
LAS VEGAS — Nevada based, Children's Heart Foundation was the recipient of a $9,441 donation from the Nevada Department of Transportation Golf League for the 29th Annual Dick Morris Memorial Golf Tournament.
The May 5th tournament hosted at the Dayton Valley Golf Course included150 participants. The winning foursome was Larry Kelly, John Greene, Dave Manning and Scott Bohemier.

Children's Heart Foundation Appoints Renee Rietgraf to Development Manager
LAS VEGAS — Children's Heart Foundation announced today the appointment of Renee Rietgraf to Development Manager. Her responsibilities are fundraising, publicity and special event coordination including the upcoming Walk with the Heart of a Child at the Fashion Show Mall on Saturday, February 10.
Rietgraf recently spent four years at Preferred Public Relations & Marketing and won numerous awards for her publicity campaigns including PR News Legal PR Awards 2004 for the Snell & Wilmer Charitable Foundation Publicity Campaign; The Communicator Award of Excellence 2004 for the Fiamma Trattoria Restaurant Launch at MGM Grand, International Association of Business Communicators Bronze Quill Awards 2004 for the for the Snell & Wilmer Charitable Foundation Publicity Campaign, and Public Relations Society of America Tri-State Pinnacle Awards 2004 for the Sammy's Woodfired Pizza/Clark County READS Mac King Book Drive.
She also worked at CBS Radio as the Lite 100.5 promotions and marketing director, later adding interim Mix 94.1 marketing and promotions director duties. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, Rietgraf worked as a reporter with the NewsTribune, a medium size newspaper serving central Illinois.
Rietgraf attended Illinois Valley Community College and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in speech communications with a public relations specialization and minor in journalism and political science.
Currently, she serves on the board of directors for Southern Nevada Pug Rescue.
