Once there was a little girl named Julia who asked, “What if every child gave up one birthday, just one, by giving instead of receiving? How many sick children could we help?” That is how the Peter Pan Birthday Club started. Julia is all grown up now but she still celebrates her birthday the Peter Pan way.

Did you know that the man who created Peter Pan was a great philanthropist? That means he gave lots of money to help other people, especially children. Sir James Barrie also gave the Peter Pan story rights to the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London England. Every time Peter Pan flies, he helps to raise money for sick and injured children. You can do it too! Here’s how.

Register with the Peter Pan Children’s Fund so that they know when you are planning your party. You can register on line, or mail them a note telling them all about your party.

Select Children’s Heart Foundation (or another qualified nonprofit organization or hospital) and you can help make a difference in the lives of children with heart conditions!

On your party invitation, tell your friends that you want to help kids born with heart conditions and instead of a present, they should bring a check for Children’s Heart Foundation in the amount that they would normally spend on a gift.

After your party, make a date with Children’s Heart Foundation to present us your birthday checks.

Fill out the Peter Pan Gift Application, which you can download here. Send it to Peter Pan Foundation along with a letter from Children’s Heart Foundation telling Peter Pan Fund about your birthday donation. If you cannot download the form, e-mail Peter Pan Foundation and they will mail you one – or you can contact CHF.

When Peter Pan Fund receives your Peter Pan Gift Application, they will send Children’s Heart Foundation another check for $100 in your name!

The Peter Pan Children’s Fund will also send you an official Peter Pan Birthday Club Certificate and Order of Pan crest pin.

Children and teenagers who submit a Peter Pan Gift Application will be eligible for consideration for induction into The Second Star to the Right Hall of Fame. This is how the Peter Pan Children’s Fund celebrates extraordinary acts of generosity by young people who support non-profit organizations, like Children’s Heart Foundation, and hospitals that care for children.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Peter Pan Birthday Club registration form asks for a “hospital”; however, Children’s Heart Foundation is a qualifed Peter Pan Birthday Club non-profit so you are able to include our name in the “Hospital” field.

EVENT DETAILS:  Attention CAMPERS ~  Join us at Paint and Party for a Painting Party on Sunday, March 25th, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Paint and Party!  This event is cost-free for heart kids ages 7-18.  Each child will be provided a canvas and acrylic paint for painting.  A snack and drink will be provided.  Parents may attend, but this is not required.  Parents must drop off and pick-up their child.  An RSVP is required.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS…

As you know, our goal this year through our Walk with the Heart of a Child event is to raise $110,000.00 ~ and, TOGETHER, we can do it!

But, we can’t do it without you! So, beginning tonight, whoever raises the most donations ~ total dollars, as an individual ~ for Walk with the Heart of a Child between now and Friday, February 24th (minimum $100.00) will win a fabulous Kindle Touch! In addition, all those individuals who raise $100 or more between now and Friday, February 24th will be entered into a drawing and 2 of these amazing supporters will each win a $50 Visa Gift Card! All 3 awards ~ To be announced at the Walk on Saturday, February 25th at Fashion Show Mall.  You do not need to be present at the Walk in order to win.

But the excitement does not stop there! For all of you who would like to help, but can’t attend our Walk, register as a Virtual Walker by Saturday, February 25, 2012 – for just $15.00! Community donations are the heart of Children’s Heart Foundation. Here’s a highlight of how your donations help our heart families:

♥ $15 buys a family of four lunch at the hospital.

♥ $25 provides an uninsured child with necessary medications.

♥ $30 gives a Camp Mend-a-Heart camper a birthday gift at the birthday party.

♥ $40 buys a camper arts and craft supplies at Camp Mend-a-Heart.

♥ $60 allows parents to get to a child’s appointments via the bus.

♥ $90 supplies a heart child with diapers for up to three months.

♥ $150 provides a camper and their family FUN at the Camp Carnival.

♥ $200 helps feed a family of five for a month.

♥ $400 purchases airfare for a parent and child for surgery appointments.
