Camp Heart and Sole is a cost-free, fun filled and educational camp held annually during the summer months at Potosi Pines Camp, in the hills of Pahrump. This camp is for children participating in the Healthy Heart Program at the Children’s Heart Center Nevada. Camp experience focuses on modifying unhealthy and negative behaviors, increasing and expanding the child’s knowledge of current eating habits, introducing physical exercise as a fun sporting activity and providing an all around positive camp experience for children.

Camp Heart & Sole offers 3 nights and 4 days filled with sports, arts and crafts, water games and many other recreational activity programs that enhance the child’s life. Camp Heart & Sole is staffed by volunteer counselors, nurses, and ancillary staff who give from their hearts to help these children have a great time.

Many of the children that attend Camp Heart & Sole have never experienced a summer camp and the majority of kids who attend are from financially challenged families who may never be able to provide this kind of experience for their kids. Dr. Creel, the camp psychologist says “We have seen many of our kids return from camp with a higher level of self esteem and confidence and who have become mentally and physically healthier from the experience”.

This is the 9th year for Camp Heart & Sole and if it weren’t for the generous contributions from PepsiCo, the Ronald Macdonald House and the Children’s Heart Foundation, this camp would not be possible and these kids would never be able to meet other kids going through similar health conditions, learn to live healthier lives, and have an incredible camp experience.
