Each year, Children’s Heart Foundation awards a $3,000 $mart Heart $cholarship to two graduating high school seniors managing congenital heart disease. We are excited to announce our 2016 winners!

Zachary Grant

Zachary Grant graduated from Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas with a STEM endorsement in engineering and was ranked at the top of his class as salutatorian. He will be attending Purdue University in Indiana with his twin brother Dominic, where they will both be studying engineering. In addition to his commitment to academics, Zachary is an avid sports fan, particularly of baseball and hockey, and in his free time he enjoys golfing and playing soccer. Despite being a cardiac patient since birth and enduring countless procedures and surgeries, Zachary has never allowed his heart condition to come in the way of achieving his goals. Zachary’s ultimate goal includes securing a job in engineering in the midwest and rooting on his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.

Nicholas Stevens

Nicholas Stevens is a recent graduate of Reed High School in Sparks Nevada. He enjoys playing the flute and bassoon and credits them for helping keeping his lungs healthy and clear. He also enjoys helping others and giving back to his local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. Nicholas will be attending University of Nevada Reno this Fall and is very excited for what the future holds for him.
